Fresh ideas for your customers

Our new Complete Covert systems offer the perfect bundling ideas. (Why bundle? Read here.) With the receivers quad viewing capabilities, the camera combinations are endless. Want a "working mom" package? Try the Digital Picture Frame QUAD LCD plus an extra Mantle Clock and Clock Radio for living and playroom supervision. Need to check out the man cave? Set up a DVD Player QUAD plus an extra iPod Dock and Smoke Detector. And for around the house security add on a couple of Outdoor/Indoor Cameras.

Selling convenient packages of products is solving the problem for your customer before they even ask. And everyone appreciates it when a company can read their mind.

Product Bundling – A Win Win for the Holidays!

The holiday season a perfect time to offer bundled products. The obvious benefit of bundling products and services is increased sales and profits. But if you think about, there is a lot more involved in this process.

How does bundling benefit you?

Bundling products is the best way to leverage your marketing efforts. You don’t have to spend your precious time and energy on selling products and services individually – rather, you can do it all at once. The less time you spend on messaging means you save money. Furthermore, offering packages also helps you push out products that may not do too good all by themselves.

In addition bundling also makes it difficult for customers to compare apples to apples. While a competitor may offer the exact same DVR set, if yours is bundled with a receiver or extra camera the consumer can't really price shop. Larger electronics wholesalers such as Sony have been taking advantage of this tactic for years.

What is VALUE to your potential clients and customers?

When you are bundling your offers, you should be able to significantly lower the unit price, greatly increasing the perceived value in the mind of your consumers. The perceived value is the real deal that makes the difference. This impresses your clients and consumers hence, rapidly increasing your chances of making sales. Brand your package deals distinctly to clarify what is offered in each “option." Consider using: Family Package, Small Business Package, and Multi Platform Package…and so on. For example, an offer in the Small Business Package might be “With the purchase of a receiver, get TWO cameras!” The customer may not realize that they could really use the extra camera - until they see it bundled together. SOLD!

KJB's new SleuthGear Complete Covert hidden cameras are great way to put bundles together. We'll keep posting ideas. Click here for the first one.

Full Cyber Speed Ahead! Our Dealer Promo Deals start in a few days!

The Partnership only works if you promote your point of sale hard for the next two weeks. Also, remember that Black Friday and Cyber Monday means that you will be moving full speed ahead for the next 10 days!

According to BestCyberMonday.com, since its initial inception in 2005, Cyber Monday has experienced a tremendous amount of growth every single year. It is by far the single largest online shopping day of the year. Cyber Monday 2012 is already predicted to be a record breaker.

Remember to keep your customers interested. Use these tips to capture the increased web traffic over the next 10 days:

• Boost your blog postings and commenting on blogs. Post items not related to your business - think of your blog as the department store restroom with the big comfy chairs and soothing music. Customers need somewhere to relax, when they do, they ultimately spend more time on your site.

• Increase social media activity but follow the rule above about selfish posting.

• Create giveaways and contests to keep customers coming back over multiple days. This works for on-line and brick and mortar stores. Even if customers don't come back they may tell their friends about it.

• Think about the holiday spirit. When the crush of greedy shoppers seems overwhelming, companies that indulge in selfless causes and sponsorships stand out of the crowd. And this kind of publicity will last past the 6 week holiday rush.

Find out their favorite position

When you think about positioning your products online think about who's buying them. An estimated 29 million Internet users bought gifts online last year during the holiday shopping season, and 58 percent of them were women. Stand out from other online electronics retailers by paying attention this fact. The personal protection aspects of KJB's products can make them very attractive gifts for women.

For example:

• Give the new mom going back to work a Zone Shield DVR so she can feel confident about who's watching the baby.

• For the parents who bought the teenager a new car for Christmas, someone needs to give them an iTrail GPS Logger!

Remember to explain technical jargon such as what field of view is or how a GPS logger versus tracker works. Taking time to educate your buyers results in a more comfortable shopping environment, and during the holidays when everyone is in a mad dash you want to give users extra reasons to stay on your site. Using the longer names for these acronyms also beefs of your own SEO (or, to be completely accommodating, search engine optimization.)

What if your buyers don't have pressing surveillance needs?

No problem! This holiday season, be sure to highlight features of typical surveillance devices which ALSO have practical purposes:

• Small elecronic gadgets make great boss or client gifts. Consider the Black Media Pen Recorder, it's easy to record meetings and reviews notes on a plane or in a cab.

Don't forget about big kids - you know, grown men who revert to childhood movie characters when presented with something shiny, black, and battery operated. Remind your shoppers about these Big Kid toys:

• The Bluetooth Headset Cam is a great gadget to capture all those special holiday moments when no one thinks they're being recorded!

• The Super Ear. Give one of these to Dad, then get the kids to try to beat the Super Ear personal amplifier by being super quiet. Guaranteed Christmas morning entertainment.

Gross is Good

As the holiday selling season cranks up, we think its important to review some common business concepts that, when ignored, can often land retailers in the red post holidays. In our experience this happens more frequently to online-only or drop shipping dealers. In a race to get customers some e-tailers focus too closely on mark-up at the expense of their own profit.

Mark-up is the measure of how much the cost of an item is increased to arrive at a sales price. Markups are typically discussed in terms of percentages, using the cost and final retail price of an item as reference points. For example, an item that costs a business $20 to purchase, which the business retails for $30, has a 50 percent markup. The same item, if sold for $40, would have a 100 percent markup.

The gross profit of an item is the portion of the final selling price that remains for the business to use after the product has been purchased. The gross profit does not take into consideration costs of doing business. Rather, it is a measure of how much money is generated by the sale of an item for the business to use toward all of its operating expenses.

Sometimes businesses zero in on how much or how little their mark-up can be in order to beat the next guy on price. Be aware that when you sell based on price instead of margin, you are at risk of “starving” your business. You will inherently face several problems. The first is recognizing what brought customers to you in the first place. They bought from you because you had the lowest price for the product they wanted. If they were first time customers, they didn’t come to you because of the relationship you had built with them, your customer service, product knowledge, technical support, or brand recognition. They bought from you because your price was simply a few dollars lower than your nearest competitor.

So you may have gotten the sale this time, but next time that customer wants to buy a product, they may again start their search for the lowest price. In the meantime, your competitor has undercut you by a few dollars, and since you were simply selling on price, as soon as a competitor surfaces that sells the product for less, you’ve lost your customer. The take away here is that lowering your price, while having the advantage of possibly increasing sales, does not necessarily translate to more profits (and in many cases, results in lower profits). KJB wants you and your business to be successful. Since we encourage MAP pricing that results in healthy margins for our dealers and overall steady gross profits, you can put more money in your pocket. At the end of the day that's the goal of every business.

Great Partnerships Make Great Business

Just in time for Black Friday and Cyber Monday shoppers,  KJB introduces the Dealer Partnership Promo! Last year over 10 million people flooded the virtual shopping world on Cyber Monday,  the Monday after Thanksgiving. This year projections are even higher. KJB wants to help our dealers reach those shoppers with our Cyber Monday Dealer Partnership Promo featuring 20 products easy to position for holiday shoppers.

To be a part of the Partnership Program,  here are a few simple steps to follow:
• Dealers must create a sale page on their site featuring only KJB products and include some of the 20 Promo products. We'll publish the list on November 9th, but you can get a head start by calling Dealer Partnership Promo now.  Remember to log in to the Dealer Dashboard for images that you can use on your Partnership Promo page.

• Of the 20 products, the Dealers' advertised price must be reduced at least 20%.

• The sale page must be in place to be verified by KJB's sales team by 11/19/12, although the page does not have to go live until the first day of the sale,  11/23/12.

In return for Dealers creating their special pages,  KJB will:
• suspend MAP on any applicable items for the duration of the Promo 11/23/12 - 12/7/12

• As each Dealer agrees to the Partnership and creates their Promo page we will announce it on all KJB social media.

• Each week on Facebook we will post an updated list of Dealers who are part of the Promotion advising customers to check those websites beginning 11/23 for deals on surveillance gear.

• Need ideas on how to promote these products to your holiday shoppers? No worries…KJB will give suggestions each week to help you!
