Security Solutions for Construction Sites and Equipment

Construction equipment is a costly investment. It can be a challenge to keep all of your equipment secure since it is often stored outdoors on the construction site. Unfortunately there’s a growing trend of construction equipment theft rings.

The National Equipment Register (NER) estimates the value of construction equipment stolen each year is somewhere between $300 million to $1 billion. (constructconnect.com) This only represents the costs involved in replacing your expensive security equipment. This does not factor in the costs and time involved in filing police reports and waiting on insurance investigations.

Thankfully there are some covert surveillance and tracking security solutions available to help you keep track of your valuable construction equipment and help you avoid the losses that come with stolen property.

We’ve identified 3 products that can help you greatly reduce the chances of your construction equipment getting lifted. The products can also help you recover lost or stolen equipment as well.

Back To School Safety Tips for Spy And Security Customers

It’s that time of year again! School administrators and security personnel have planned and worked hard to get our schools and campuses safe and ready for eager learners (and the not-so-eager). There are so many areas on campus to consider when thinking about safety and security for your school. It can quickly become overwhelming. That’s where we come in. KJB Security has been in the business of securing campuses for over 15 years now. We’re here to help!

Here are a few areas to remember and tools to consider adding to your school security plan.

Resources for school campus security
As campus security experts and school administrators, it’s your job to help alleviate fears and concerns and insure that students all across America will be safe. Today university and campuses are putting forth their best effort to make school safety a top priority and the statistics prove that it's working! We’d like to assist in those efforts by providing this resource: KJB Security’s top 4 security tools to add to your security plan in 2017

GPS Fleet tracking for school busses
The safety process for students doesn’t begin when they walk onto the campus. For many children, it begins when they walk (or hop) onto the school bus. We have 2 great security options for busses that will help you get those students to school safely.
  1. iTrail Convoy GPS Tracking: The iTrail Convoy is a hard-wired, rugged, professional-grade vehicle tracker with a 12 hour back-up battery that offers alerts and live monitoring every 10 seconds. The iTrail Convoy can be completely covert after installation and you never have to worry about power.
  2. Duel 720P Dash Camera: Our dual dash cam is the best on the market featuring a front facing and back facing camera in one body. It simultaneously captures the road ahead and the cabin in clear HD video. Use this top of the line Dual Recording Dash Camera to capture your drive for safety and insurance purposes.

Friendly safety reminders to share with parents and students
Unfortunately Americans still haven’t quite figured this one out: Always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks!! Especially young pedestrians walking to school. Often kids must walk to school alone and… (surprise) don’t always follow the rules. Take extra care to look out for children in school zones, playgrounds and parks, and residential areas.

No! You can’t beat the bus!! Plus, it is illegal in all 50 states to pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload children. Unfortunately, we can all think of a time recently when you saw this happen. It’s amazing how many tragic stories like this one and this one we still read each year.

If you have young pedestrians who must walk to school alone, throw an iTrail Solo GPS Tracking device into their backpack when heading out the door.  You will receive your child’s location update every 30 to 60 seconds via text message or email. And you can know when your tracker has left a specified area using our GeoFence alerts!

More tips for pedestrian and bus safety...
  • In a school zone when flashers are blinking, stop and yield to pedestrians crossing the crosswalk or intersection
  • Never pass a vehicle stopped for pedestrians
  • If you're driving behind a bus, allow a greater following distance than if you were driving behind a car.
  • The area 10 feet around a school bus is the most dangerous for children; stop far enough back to allow them space to safely enter and exit the bus (NSC.org)

Teen Driver Safety
Around this time of year a teen or college student will get behind the wheel of the car and drive themselves to school for the first time. This can be a freeing, happy, fun and scary experience all at the same time! Here are a few resources to help take away the scary part of the experience!

  • Send your teen off to school with a iTrail GPS Solo Tracking device! With this GPS tracking device, parents can see when their teens drive, how they drive, where they drive, and what roads they drive on! The iTrail really is the best device currently on the market for parents of teen drivers! Learn more about how our iTrail Solo works to give you peace of mind when sending your teen on the road in this article
  • We’ve also provided some great tips here for teen driver safety. These can easily be applied to teens driving themselves and their friends to and from school.
  • Finally, make sure you share these safety tips with your teen before they head off to college. Our handy campus safety guide will help keep your teen safe once they’ve arrived!

6 Ways to Spare Your Biz (or Home) From A Summer Crime Spike

Summer is here and it’s a hot one this year! During these hot summer months it is statistically proven that crime increases slightly. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, seasonal patterns show an increase in property crime (burglary, auto theft, and other theft) and violent victimization (rape and sexual assault, robbery, aggravated assault, and simple assault) during the summer. „ According to a Bureau report on Seasonal Patterns in Criminal Victimization Trends, “When seasonal variations in household property victimization were found, the differences between the highest and lowest seasonal rates were less than 11%.”

It’s important to be aware of this spike in crime so you can protect yourself, family, home and business.

There are different theories as to why crime rates go up during the summer months. Some factors may include:
  • Better weather conditions including warmer temperatures make it easier to commit crime.
  • Families are out and about on vacation, events, etc. and away from their home or business property creating the perfect opportunity for theft.
  • It’s possible that elevated temperatures can contribute to a rise in aggressive behavior, which can lead to crime.

For these reasons it’s important to take the necessary steps to protect your business, home and automobile from a summer crime spike. Here are 6 ways to do this:

  1. Protect your home by having someone check on it when you’re away. Give your neighbor a spare key and ask them to check on the property daily as well as pick up mail and other deliveries.
  2. Protect your business and home with covert surveillance. We have some great home automation security products that will help you defend the interior and exterior of your home and business from burglary and theft. No matter where you are, you can now keep a close eye on your property from your smartphone or other device! Example: This hidden camera blends perfectly into your home or business disguised as a smoke detector. For more information our our SG Home products and home automation click here. Need help determining what kind of covert camera system you need? We’ve covered that here!
  3. Protect your home by pretending you're still there! Leave lights on with timers set to random settings or eave a tv or radio turned up so it can be heard from outside the door or window. And finally, for goodness sake, don’t make a big announcement on social media about your trip until it’s completed! These above safety measures work for small businesses as well.
  4. Protect your business from theft by putting someone in charge while you’re away. Have a trusted, reliable employee take over security detail when you're on vacation or leave during the summer so you can relax and not have to worry about employee theft or loss prevention.
  5. Protect your business valuables and fleet while you’re away with GPS tracking. Covertly track any asset that has value to your business or track employees that need to be monitored. Quickly and easily identify the precise location of every fixed or movable asset in your business with reliable round-the-clock asset tracking and communications. Track everything easily from your vacation with the iTrail app! Click here for more great ideas on business and inventory loss prevention.
  6. Protect automobiles while you’re away with our dual dash cam! It’s advanced features include two 720P HD cameras that rotate 180 degrees to record front, back and side views inside or outside your vehicle in sharp, HD video quality.
