Don't Let A Foreign Government Ruin Your Morning

This morning the kids were running late, the bus was running early, and you ran out of time to make a quick call to your mom in her new assisted living center.

Finally at your desk, you log in to the remote view camera you installed when she moved in – but instead of seeing your mom's cheerful living room you see a black screen. No picture, no live feed. The camera just stopped working. Looks like the cheap camera you chose has a peace-of-mind cost that you weren't planning on.

KJB uses Amazon Web Servers (AWS) for our line of IP remote view cameras. These servers are all based in the United States. All SleuthGear cameras use AWS to provide live remote view and recording. Unlike less expensive cameras, SleuthGear cameras use a two stage log in and a required password. This two stage authentication protects your videos from getting into the wrong hands, not only from your device but also from the servers housing your videos. Amazon Web Servers require any person using their server to have that dedicated password. Yes the two step authentication can be a bit more complicated set up – but do you want that video of Mom in her new apartment available for strangers to easily hack?

Speaking of your mom's new apartment let's get back to that blank screen. Recently the remote feed from IP cameras similar to SleuthGear was suddenly shut down by the foreign governments housing those servers with no explanation. Individuals using those cameras were left without a live feed and questioned if their recorded videos had been hacked. But customers using KJB's SleuthGear Hidden Cameras reported no such interruption. Amazon Web Servers were not affected.

KJB Security does not make short term security products. We've been in the hidden and remote camera business for twenty years. We back our products with America based tech support and take your peace-of-mind seriously.

How Our Choice of Cloud Servers Make Your Video Secure

How Our Choice of Cloud Servers
Make Your Video Secure

In a day and age where anything can be hacked within a few strokes of a keyboard, privacy and security are of the utmost importance when it comes to your information. In 2018 alone, there were hundreds of cyberattacks affecting hundreds of millions of people globally. As the leading pioneers in Hidden Surveillance and Security, we wanted to be able to provide an ultra-secure hidden surveillance cloud video recording system with a multi-layer password protection to hinder any chance of tampering. After years in the making, a few developers later, our vision for a cloud video recording system came to fruition. SG Home Cloud is the first covert video cloud system and proudly launched in August of 2018.

Building a data infrastructure on local servers is very expensive to start from scratch. It takes a lot of money, expertise, security, machines, housing and manpower to keep systems current and up to task that’s when a business has to decide what option is right for them. That’s why we and millions of others have cut costs and left that to cloud computing services hosted offsite and accessed through the internet. There are a lot of cloud solutions out there from foreign to domestic. The first thing we required was a domestic server that provided a powerful, flexible and secure cloud computing solution for everyone. Data breaches were a problem we found with foreign servers. Being in the industry we are, we’ve seen and sampled a lot of the smart home products that are made in China, such as thermostats, lock keypads, doorbells and cameras that are vulnerable to cyberattacks. These App based products are using foreign wireless or peer-to-peer networks that are easy to manipulate, expose your private information and gain access to your private networks.

The main five cloud platform solutions to choose from were, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud and Alibaba Cloud. We decided to go with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which has been leading the way since 2004 in the Cloud Computing Industry and holds a 35% Market Share. While other companies have gotten into the game and are close in comparison, everyone’s requirements are different, their services don’t always provide the quality and flexibility you need for your organization. Amazon provides all encompassed web services to millions of clients including individuals, companies and governments worldwide. It’s easy to make adjustments to our infrastructure; we have the ability to upgrade or downgrade as needed to stay in the forefront of our industry and pay only for what we are using. This allows for us to provide an easy accessible and affordable cloud camera subscription without all the extra overhead costs. Amazon Web Services puts cloud security as its’ highest priority. Their data centers and network structure were built to meet the requirements of the most security-sensitive organizations such as the CIA, FBI and other foreign agencies and governments. In addition, the built in app multi-layer account protection in our App, Amazon Web Services hosting increases our defense of your protected data.

We wanted to build something that had an extra line of security for our app login, cameras and storage files to minimize the prospect of your information getting into the hands of cybercriminals. Your SG Home Cloud videos are stored with complete autonomy, no one is reviewing footage, unless you’ve shared access with another user your footage is for your eyes only, the servers only have a record of the usernames and history, and the actual footage is unavailable. If your subscription lapses or you discontinue service, all your stored cloud data is erased. We felt this would give our customers peace of mind, knowing you won’t have to worry about your information or videos exchanging hands.

SG Cloud Recording and Law Enforcement: Looking at Dangerous Cases with the Help of Hidden Cameras

SG Cloud Recording and Law Enforcement: Looking at Dangerous Cases with the Help of Hidden Cameras

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” Sherlock Holmes may have been one of the fiction world’s best detectives, but how would he fare against our modern day detectives in blue? With the creation of new and better recording technology, investigative work has turned away from the riddle solving days of old-day London fiction, and become more a game of being at the right place at the right time, with the right tools. However, one of the most versatile and transportable surveillance tools to be introduced to the spy tech world has yet to be fully utilized by police detectives and other law enforcement personnel.

Covert surveillance cameras have been around for over a decade, providing video footage under the guise of common household or workplace objects. The SG Home Wi-Fi cameras have updated this technology to allow for remote access to a live video feed anywhere in the world. Now this technology is being advanced even further with the advent of the SG Home Cloud Storage System. This gives officers the ability to store the recorded video files online and retrieve them remotely during an undercover operation. Video files can be downloaded onto a police department’s mobile device and transferred to the department’s archived storage in order to be used as evidence in court.

One of the most important features of a remote cloud-based camera is the ability to view the live feed miles away from the scene of an undercover operation. Being able to set up the camera beforehand and remotely view the camera’s image gives officers the chance to stay involved at safe distances. At the same time, fellow officers can download the recorded video straight to the precinct’s mobile devices, expediting the chain-of-evidence process. With remote cloud surveillance in hand, sting operations can be safer and bring results faster than ever before.

From body cameras to shot-spotters, Law Enforcement technology has come to provide creative ways to use surveillance tools to capture criminals and protect the public. With the portability of battery operated units, the SG Home Cloud cameras can be set up virtually anywhere and offers the ability to not only monitor remotely, but also the ability to download stored files remotely. This gives law enforcement personnel a unique tool with which to record and capture evidence.

5 Reasons to Choose Cloud Storage for your Hidden Cameras

5 Reasons to Choose Cloud Storage for your Hidden Cameras

KJB Security will soon be one of the first hidden camera manufacturers in the world to provide Cloud storage for video recording (CVR). We are thrilled to be pioneers of this new frontier! As a company we have proven our commitment over the years to providing the highest quality and most advanced hidden camera technology and innovation.

Here’s why you’ll want to sign up for this new Cloud storage solution for your Hidden Camera system as soon as it becomes available!

1. Cloud storage gives you easy access to your footage from anywhere in the world at any time.

Need to share covert video files quickly with your investigation team? Now you can have access to your footage from anywhere at any time and share it with anyone thanks to cloud storage. All you need is Wi-Fi to quickly and easily access your important security footage. And better yet… you can access live video footage from your phone or tablet with just a few taps.

2. Cloud storage protects your hidden camera footage from damage, loss, corruption.

There are many good reasons why SD card storage is a convenient storage solution. You can quickly and easily transport and share them. The downside to these convenient little files is that it’s a physical item. If anyone finds or takes it, your camera and the evidence is now gone. Not to mention, the physical property can be accidentally or intentionally destroyed or badly damaged often during transport or within the camera system. Cloud storage eliminates this risk by sending your footage directly to a safe and secure storage facility somewhere in the US.

3. Cloud storage makes hidden camera footage more secure.

Open up your browser to the latest news headline and chances are you’ll see the word hacker. Computer hackers are just waiting to terrorize your home computer or business IT system. Hackers have cost businesses billions in revenue year after year. According to this CNBC article 14 million US businesses are at risk of a hacker threat. Cloud storage provides a layer of protection and security for your highly valuable personal, business or investigative convert video files. Plus, our account based app creates a double layer of security. No one can see your recording without your password.

4. Cloud storage gives you more space for your security footage.

Hidden camera video footage can take up quite a bit of storage space. The hidden cameras send footage to the cloud every time motion is detected. Often corporate, private or police investigations can take months or years to complete. With cloud recording, you will be able to store more recordings than ever before. We will have a few storage options available to fit every budget. You choose the amount of data stored in the cloud when you choose your subscription plan.

5. KJB Security gives you 30 days of free storage.

That’s right. We’re giving you a chance to date your cloud storage before you put a ring on it… so to speak. We will still have the card storage option available for those who don’t feel like Cloud storage is the right solution (even after reading all the information above). But for those who are ready to go for it, we’re giving you 30 days of free storage!

Hopefully, after reading about the benefits of cloud recording, you’re now ready to sign up. Be the first to switch to the cloud for SG Home CVR Wi-Fi Hidden Cameras. With new technology comes new forms, with the new SG Home CVR line we have a bunch of new hidden cameras that will blend seamlessly into your environment. We promise… you will be the first to know it has arrived!
